Library Policies

Mission Statement: To provide equitable information access to the College and community while upholding Anishinaabe values.

Cell Phones

Cell phones must remain on silent or turned off while in the library. Phone calls may be taken in the study rooms or hallway. Library
staff will permit phone conversations at computers as required by individual circumstances.

Community Borrowing

Community members are welcome to borrow books and DVDs from the LLTC Library. An LLTC library card is required and can be obtained
by visiting the library. Photo ID is required for all library card registrations. Library cards must be presented at time of checkout.
Library users may receive one free replacement library card; after this, each subsequent replacement is $2.

Computer Use & Printing

In general, library computers are available for public use with no time limits. Academic use of computers, however, takes priority
over all other use. During times of high-demand, library staff may enforce time limits or temporarily restrict use to LLTC students
only. Library staff will assist users in copying and printing. Copies and printouts are limited to 10 pages per day for non-academic
purposes.

Donations

The library will accept donated materials filling three boxes or fewer without prior review once per donor every six months. Donations
in excess of three boxes or in frequency of greater than once in a six-month period require approval from the Director of Library Services.
In any case, the Director of Library Services will make all final decisions regarding whether accepted donations are added to the library’s
collections.

Food & Drinks

Quiet, tidy, odorless snacks are permitted in the library. Drinks must be in spill-proof containers with lids. No food or drinks are
allowed at computers or near iPads. Library staff may ask uncompliant users to consume all food and drink outside of the library.

Headphones

Headphones are required for all listening devices, and volume must be kept to a minimum. Headphones are available for checkout in the
library.

Overdue, Lost, & Damaged Materials

The LLTC Library does not charge fees for overdue materials. Library users with overdue items may not checkout any additional items
until all overdue items are returned. Library users with lost or damaged items are required to pay a replacement fee determined by
the Director of Library Services. Lost item fees will be waived if the item is returned in good condition.

Student IDs

The LLTC Library prints all LLTC student IDs. Students may receive one free replacement ID. After this, all additional replacements
are $10 each.

Unattended Children

Children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Adults must stay within arm’s reach of the children
for whom they are responsible.

Unattended Possessions

No personal possessions including backpacks, purses, coats, or electronic devices may be left unattended in the library. Unattended
items may be removed from the library and handed over to campus security. Library staff is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or
damaged personal property.
