Biography:
I started teaching in 1995 as a mathematics and science instructor at Blackduck High School. I moved to Leech Lake Tribal College STEM department in the Fall of 1998 teaching mathematics. My expertise primary expertise is mathematics, but I also have experience teaching physical science, chemistry, and computers as I have a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Science with additional higher education credits in computer science.
I enjoy family time with my son and wife as well as spending time enjoying the outdoors hiking, fishing, and hunting. I farm during the summer on our family farm and enjoy working the earth during the spring and seeing the crops mature over the summer.
Working at a Tribal College has exposed me to a whole new culture and I enjoy learning about the rich history of the Ojibwe people. I have attended workshops and taken culturally relevant classes at Leech Lake Tribal College to enrich my knowledge of the culture. Working at a small college offers more personal interaction with the students which I find enjoying as you get to know more about them and build a better relationship that fosters learning within the classroom.
