Introduction

Eligibility

Meet college eligibility requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older;
  • Earned a high school diploma or GED, prior to admissions 

Proof of English Proficiency

  • Satisfactory completion of the Interlink Intensive English Program or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with minimum result of 550 or the equivalent is required.

LLTC is required by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service to determine that there are sufficient financial resources to cover all expenses while in the United States.  No International student will be admitting to LLTC without verified financial support.


Enrollment Procedure

  1. Complete and sign applications
    1. Admission Application
    2. Permission to Release Form
    3. High School/GED Request Form
      1. To speed up the Admission process please bring official high school, college transcripts and GED test scores/certificate upon submission
    1. Financial Aid applications
      1. Federal Application for Free Student Aid, Tribal Higher Education, MN Indian Scholarship
  2. Submit applications and other required documentation
    1. Admission applications to the Admissions Clerk
    2. Financial Aid applications to Financial Aid Clerk
    3. Certified copies of the original and English versions of all secondary and University courses that have been completed
    4. An International transfer student seeking admission to LLTC must meet the requirement stated above plus the student must submit transcripts that are original and certified copies of English version of all previous college or University work completed.
  3. Visit with an Academic Advisor
    1. Take the writing and math placement test (COMPASS)
      1. All new students are required to take this test upon admissions
      2. Please allow one (1) hour for the test
    1. Register for the upcoming semester
    2. Complete education plan

Student Visa

If an international student has met the entire LLTC admission requirements, the college will send the student a 1-20A-B form, which is needed along with the admission letter.  In order for the student to obtain an F1 student visa, the student will have to contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate and present the following; passport, 1-20A-B form, admission letter, and affidavit of financial support.  All international students must be fully admitted to the college and have a valid F-1 student visa before they will be allowed to register.


Housing

LLTC does not have dormitories available for International students.  Unless an International student has guaranteed housing, LLTC will discourage the student from attending the college.  It must be clearly understood the college cannot make housing commitments to international students.


International students' employment

The only legal employment in which an International student can participate is actual work on campus; if student is eligible for Federal Work Study.


Processing International Student

Except what is stated as additional admission requirements for International students, their applications will be processed utilizing the same policies and procedures as other students.
