The youths of Leech Lake reservation participated in the first basketball clinic hosted by the Leech Lake Tribal College basketball program. 48 kids ranging from third grade to sixth grade took part in the event on December 29th at the Cass Lake-Bena High School gymnasium. The clinic’s aim was to prepare and refresh fundamentals skills for the upcoming youth basketball season set to start on January 6, 2016.

As an institution that seeks to honor and embrace their culture, Leech Lake Tribal College (LLTC) works diligently to model Anishinaabe values. In August 2014, LLTC officially became commercial tobacco-free, prohibiting use of all commercial tobacco products on campus other than for ceremonial use.

March 18, 2016 – The Leech Lake Tribal College received a $13,000 donation from LeRoy Staples Fairbanks towards a $50,000 endowment scholarship fund. This marks the beginning of the final phase of giving, with the remainder of the pledge to be completed later this year.
